There is a wide range of chandeliers varying in size, finish, and style, making the choice of the perfect one a real challenge. A small chandelier can get visually lost in a large room and fail to make a statement, while an oversized chandelier can overpower a smaller space.
To achieve a balanced and stylish look, the size of your chandelier should be proportional to both the room dimensions and the furniture within it. With so many variables to consider, it's important to approach the decision thoughtfully to ensure the chandelier enhances the overall ambiance of your home.
Measure spaces’ length and width in feet, sum them up and that will be approximate diameter for the chandelier in inches.
For example 16 feet (Room Length) + 8 feet (Room Width) = 24 feet; The chandelier should be about 24 inches for its diameter
For example 11 feet (Room Height), 11*2.5 = 27.5 The chandelier should be about 27.5 inches for its height
If you are hanging the chandelier on an open floor, chandelier’s bottom should at least be 7.5 feet away from the floor.
If you are hanging the chandelier above a dining table or kitchen island, chandelier’s bottom should be 30 to 36 inches away from the tabletop.
Besides those general rules that apply to most spaces, there are other rules and tips for different areas, like what size chandelier should be used for the dining room and what about foyers?
For example, let's say that you have a dining table with 60 inches in length. The chandelier should be between 30 (60 x 1/2) to 45 (60 x 3/4) inches in diameter or length (Same here 1/2 to 3/4 of the kitchen island length)
Besides the general rule that the chandelier’s bottom should be at least 7 and a half feet away from the floor. For two stories, what you also need to consider is how will it look from the second floor. In general, staircase chandeliers will be a good choice for space. In term of placing, below are two commonly seen guidance:
Chandelier size for hall ways should be determined by the width of the hallway. Multiple the hallway’s width in feet by 2.5 will be the diameter of the chandelier in inches.
For example, the hallway’s width is 8 feet. The chandelier’s diameter should be about 20 (8 x 2.5) inches

This is one of the most beautiful lights/chandeliers that I have ever purchased. It really look majestic in my foyer entry way. I liked it so much that I also purchased the larger, matching example to hang in my dining room and a matching pendant light to hang in my adjacent hallway. The challenge with these lights, although very well worth it seeing the final product, is that they come disassembled and every crystal, all 176 of them on the larger version, needs to be affixed by bending a wire staple through both a top and bottom hole of each crystal onto the metal frame. Not hard, just tedious and unexpected (I thought it came already assembled). Also, when ordering different sizes and types of these matching lights, the color shade of brown can vary from light to light and the pendant light only comes in black so I had to spray it brown to match the other two brown chandeliers. In the end, it came out great and looks beautiful! Thank you again Sofary for producing these fantastic lights and for your great support team who helped me tremendously when I needed it.

Regarding the chandelier itself, I can say that it shines brightly. The chandelier I purchased has three light modes: cold, warm, and natural. But this chandelier has no memory. Every time you turn on the chandelier to the desired mode, you have to click the switch three times. You can go ahead and purchase it right away with a specific lighting mode without any worries. The brightness is naturally not adjustable. Perfect for lighting up the dining table!
